Planning Department Sets Date for Pershing Road Development Presentations

Chicago’s Department of Planning and Development (DPD) has set a date of Tuesday, March 7, 2023, for community presentation and discussion of the three top proposals to overhaul a massive, historic Central Manufacturing District warehouse and adjoining property along Pershing Road in the McKinley Park neighborhood.

“We haven't locked in a venue yet, but will send out an update once we do,” said Nolan Zaroff, lead planner for the DPD’s Southwest Region.

As previously reported here in the McKinley Park News, the City of Chicago has selected the top three respondents to a July 2022 Request For Proposal (RFP) to overhaul the long-dilapidated, historic Central Manufacturing District warehouse at 1769 W. Pershing Road, Chicago, and the adjacent parking lot and truck shed at 1717 W. Pershing Road.

All three teams will present their proposals at the Central Manufacturing District RFP Community Meeting at 6 p.m. on March 7, including how their projects integrate with the community, provide local jobs, support local business and development, respond to neighborhood needs, and meet the project's financial requirements.

Venue Announced Soon

The public is invited to attend this meeting to get information and ask questions, Zaroff said. “We’ll keep you posted on venue and next steps,” he said.
